Rashad Evans Has No Fear of Jon Jones

December 8, 2011 – Dr. Americana

When Rashad Evans wasn’t making Jerry Sandusky jokes to former Penn State wrestler Phil Davis at the UFC press conference yesterday, he was talking about his other favorite subject, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Evans told ESPN Chicago he has no fear of Jones because of how he used to handle Jones in practice.

Rashad Evans Makes Jerry Sandusky Joke to Phil Davis

December 8, 2011 – Dr. Americana

UFC came to Chicago yesterday for a press conference at the United Center. Dana White and 6 UFC fighters met the media and a rowdy group of fans to promote the UFC on FOX event that will take place in the Windy City on January 28th.

Chael Sonnen stole the show with his unique brand of humor, but former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans got the biggest response from the crowd when he dropped a Jerry Sandusky joke on former Penn State wrestler Phil Davis.

It was funny, but crass. We’ll have to see if there’s any fallout for Evans after making such comments, and we’ll have to see if he can come through on that promise to knock out Davis on January 28th in Chicago.

Ronda Rousey: MMA’s Newest Hottie

December 5, 2011 – Dr. Americana

Ronda Rousey is the new face of Women’s MMA. She is an Olympic medalist in Judo and is trained by ‘Judo ‘Gene LeBell, also known as the guy that made Steven Seagal crap himself on a movie set.

She is undefeated as a pro in MMA and nearly snapped Julia Budd’s arm in two when they fought last month. So she’s much more than a pretty face — she’s the complete package. Here’s the ultimate Ronda Rousey gallery.

Your Leg and Face After Fedor Beats On It

December 2, 2011 – Dr. Americana

Jeff Monson recently fought Fedor Emelianenko is Russia, dropping a unanimous decision to the once King of MMA.

Monson was badly battered in the fight, saying that Fedor broke his femur and ruptured his patellar tendon. And how about 16 stitches in your mouth just for fun? Monson got those too. Here’s a look at Monson post-fight, talking about why Fedor is still a legit threat.

Although Monson is an outspoken critic of the American government and political system, he is not a big fan of the healthcare in Russia.

“Upon arrival there were ER staff smoking in the lobby,” Monson said. The hallways were full of wandering patients that looked like they were just out of a civil war battle. I had to fight with one of the doctors to avoid having my skull x-rayed. Eventually I got an x-ray for my leg which showed it was broken (something I already knew) and had it casted. I got 16 stitches on the inside and outside of my lip with a material that could of passed for chicken wire. It was so sharp it was making my gums bleed so I took them out myself. Saying that, the doctors were very kind and despite the inadequate medical equipment/supplies they knew what they were doing.”

Meet Nick Newell, One-Handed MMA Fighter

November 28, 2011 – Dr. Americana

Nick Newell will be fighting tomorrow night at XFC 15, and you can see him do it on HDNet. Why is that a big deal? It’s not just another fighter on some fight card. Newell has overcome being born with one hand to go on and become a high school and collegiate wrestler, and now professional MMA fighter. With a 5-0 record.

But he has yet another hurdle to get past after losing his friend to a motorcycle crash — and actually taking over his contract with the XFC. It’s a unique story. Here’s an interveiw with him from Inside MMA.
