Kimbo Slice Leaves MMA For Boxing
Elite XC and UFC veteran (still sounds weird to say that) Kimbo Slice is trading in his 4-ounce glove and leaving the cage for the ring. Slice announced that he is on to forge a career as a professional boxer.
“I feel like a baby all over again,” Slice told ESPN NewYork. “I’m thinking about this at night. I’m gonna be a problem in the heavyweight division. I’m going to be coming in with a bad demeanor. I want to see what it’s like to break some ribs, break a jaw with one punch.”
While we’re mostly certain that is easier to do in MMA than boxing, we credit Slice for his passion and actually being a good ambassador for the sport. He got paid a ton of cash, but he still humbled himself enough to join UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” and try and make it as an MMA fighter. He showed heart and a desire to truly become a mixed martial artist.
Slice did not rule out a return to MMA, but we’ll try to get a belt in the world of boxing. Former Elite XC promoter Gary Shaw said, “I’ve always said he could be a world champion. I believe in that more than ever. This is not the era of Tyson, Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.”
