Here’s an excellent video on Wanderlei Silva heading into his recent knee surgery. Wanderlei lets loose a wide array of emotions and promises to one day be the UFC champion. I can’t imagine that anyone watching this wouldn’t want him to get there. It would be hard to name a fighter that is more exciting to watch and goes about it with such passion.

Mayhem Miller: Nick Diaz Is a Stupid Thug
Mayhem Miller sits down with Michael “The Voice” Schiavello for an interview in this clip from “The Voice vs. Mayhem Miller”. He criticizes Nick Diaz and says he wants to beat him up.
What should be noted is that Mayhem would have never been “jumped” if he didn’t come in the cage and stick his face in front of the camera. He rips Diaz for “thug mentality”, but how many times has Mayhem been arrested. If Mayhem suddenly wants to be the ambassador for the sport, that’s excellent. But he should start by checking himself.

Tom Lawlor is the UFC’s funny guy. He’s known for his outlandish weigh-in outfits and costumes. Now, the man known as “Filthy” brings new meaning to that nickname, as he was recently interviewed while getting a colonic. Hold on to biting into that sandwich for a few, unless Lawlor’s dookies are appetizing to you.
Kimbo Slice vs. The World’s Strongest Man in October?
The MMA promotion Moosin is scheduling their second event to take place on October 9th in Chicago, according to MMA Fighting.
Moosin is looking to match Tim Sylvia against the giant Hong Man Choi and Kimbo Slice against world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski.
Moosin executive Corey Fischer told MMA Fighting, “I would say the Kimbo-Pudzianowski fight is the furthest from being finished, but we’re trying to work on it and make it happen.”
Sylvia stands 6’8″ and Hong Man Choi stands 7’2″. A battle between the two could set a record for tallest combatants in one MMA fight. That’s likely the only record it will set. Sylvia is coming off a win against Pudzianowski at the first Moosin event in May, “God of Martial Arts”. He’s won 2 straight fights since losing 3 in a row. This bout does nothing for his career except perhaps line his pockets. He should win with ease.
Kimbo Slice hasn’t fought since he was dumped by the UFC after losing by TKO to Matt Mitrione at UFC 113. Pudzianowski looked to gas rather easily and seemingly is happy to stand and trade, so perhaps Slice will take the fight.
Moosin is bringing the freakshow ‘quality’ that is revered Japan here to the states. It can generate excitement and it can be fun, but it really doesn’t mean a lot to MMA.
Who Knew the Ankle Could Bend Like That?
Dream 15: Shinya Aoki vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri. What an incredible display of Aoki’s submission artistry, and an even bigger display of courage and toughness by Kawajiri.
I can’t believe Kawajiri did not tap sooner. Aoki’s submission is impressive, but the sheer determination of Kawajiri is downright amazing. MMA rules.
Josh Barnett Will “Anally Rape” His Opponent
Josh Barnett is a funny dude. So before anyone gets their singlet all bunched up in a wad, understand that this is Barnett being funny. The tone of the interview is set right at the top. Crude humor? Sure, but that’s Barnett.
It’s too bad that Barnett is not fighting here in the states. It’s very possible that he would have beaten Fedor in Affliction had he passed all his tests. He’s a character and a great fighter. He’s beaten some legends in the sport and was the youngest UFC heavyweight champ when he beat Randy Couture at UFC 36. Here’s hoping that Barnett wins at this event and gets reinstated to fight in California. He can still make a lot of noise in any heavyweight division.
James Toney Already MMA’s Best Trash Talker
James Toney has yet to don the 4-ounce gloves and do battle inside the cage, but he’s a champion when it comes to talking trash.
Ariel Helwani recently spoke with a rather plump-looking Toney before UFC 116 and Toney let fly with some great trash talk and even better one-liners. All those years in boxing have served him well. He talks some sweet trash about MMA and Randy Couture.
