MMA: The Once Popular Olympic Sport?

Back in the day — and I mean waaaaay back in the day — 648 BC to be exact, the Greeks came up with a mix of boxing and wrestling called Pankration. It went on to become the most popular Greek olympic sport — the original Olympics. Here are some more amazing MMA facts from our friends at mma.ly.

The modern sport of Pancrase was a variation of pankration, and it featured legendary fighters like Bas Rutten, Ken Shamrock and Yuki Kondo. It won’t be long now before MMA is an olympic sport.
