Is This the Best Women’s KO Ever?

You may remember Zoila Frausto from our list of the 11 hottest MMA fighters or the video of where she almost got her arm ripped off by Miesha Tate. But at Bellator 23, Frausto was making news again, this time recording what could be the best-ever KO in women’s MMA. While that’s debatable, it certainly is one of the best. Just ask Rosi Sexton.

Fedor Emelianenko Loses to Fabricio Werdum

Fedor Emelianenko came out fast in the fight against Fabricio Werdum. He landed a few strikes that sent Werdum to the canvas and Fedor pounced on the opportunity to inflict damage on him. But Werdum easily obtained a few catches from his guard and the last one was too much to handle for Fedor. The Last Emperor was forced to submit when he was caught in an arm bar and triangle choke.

The fight ended when Fedor put just one tap to Werdum’s thigh at the 1:09 mark of the first round.

Sickest Knockout You’ll See This Year

The Masanori Kanehara vs Marlon Sandro fight at Sengoku 13 on June 20th didn’t last very long, but it produced one of the most devastating KOs of the year.

It makes sense that Sandro will be compared to Jose Aldo. He trains with the WEC champion and has 4 first round KOs in his last 5 fights. One was only 9 seconds into the round and another was just 19. He is now 17-1 and the new Sengoku featherweight champ.

MMA: The Once Popular Olympic Sport?

Back in the day — and I mean waaaaay back in the day — 648 BC to be exact, the Greeks came up with a mix of boxing and wrestling called Pankration. It went on to become the most popular Greek olympic sport — the original Olympics. Here are some more amazing MMA facts from our friends at mma.ly.

The modern sport of Pancrase was a variation of pankration, and it featured legendary fighters like Bas Rutten, Ken Shamrock and Yuki Kondo. It won’t be long now before MMA is an olympic sport.

Cyborg Goes All Cyborg, KO Win at Strikeforce

Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos — husband of Cris “Cyborg” Santos, lived up to his nickname at the Strikeforce: Live event in Los Angeles.

That fight was Cyborg’s first fight as a welterweight in Strikeforce, and he looks huge as a welterweight. He was just too strong for Zaromskis. Mauro Ranallo’s line at the end was classic: “Cyborg drops him like names at a Hollywood party!” Cyborg was rewarded for his win with a big smooch from Cris.

UFC Fighter Pat Barry’s Grotesque Broken Foot

In his fight against Cro Cop at UFC 115, Pat Barry did some damage. But unfortunately it was mostly to his own body. Barry tweeted that he “Broke hand in first Broke something in foot in first or second.” If this isn’t a broken foot I don’t know what is.
