When Fighter Press Conferences Go Bad

Boxing legend Ricardo Mayorga is taking on former UFC fighter Din Thomas at Shine Fights “Worlds Collide” on May 15th. At the pre-fight presser, Mayorga talks a load of trash through an interpreter, lights up a smoke and tries to bitch slap Thomas. I have to give Mayorga credit for some original smack talk, but I also wonder if he will make weight.

I’m also pretty sure that Din Thomas will do whatever it is he pleases with Mayorga. If I’m Thomas I immediately shoot on Mayorga and tire him out from top position. That shouldn’t take long to do judging by Mayorga’s ample girth.

This is classic Mayorga pre fight tactics, but mayorga is a big bully. I’m hopeful he gets beat up again, but I assume that if Thomas is unwary he might take a big ol haymaker and go down. Boxers have never done well in mma, and Mayorga isn’t a great fighter, so I assume that this is going to go poorly for him.

Mayorga isn’t a good boxer and even he admits he’s out of shape. Even if a boxer, with proper takedown defense, could win a MMA match… Mayorga isn’t going to be that boxer.

Thomas to do whatever he pleases with Mayorga including out box him.
