Fighter Gets Knocked Out — And Wins!

You just have to know the rules. Last weekend, Chan Sung Jung was fighting Pajonsuk in the “It’s Showtime” promotion. Jung lands a straight left, fakes a kick, and then lands a vicious spinning backfist that drops Pajonsuk to the canvas.
However, while the spinning backfist is a legal strike in K-1, for some reason it is not allowed under the “It’s Showtime” rules. Even though Pajonsuk was KO’d and couldn’t continue to fight, he was awarded the victory via disqualification of Jung. I still want to know why they don’t allow that type of strike. Because nothing says “It’s Showtime” like the spinning backfist!!

In many martial arts competitions it is considered a blinding technique.

Problem is 9/10 backfists end up being back elbows.

I saw this fight. It was a perfectly set up strike, it hit on the glove, so it wasn’t a back-elbow. really too bad it was counted as a DQ, but to everyone who’s seen this bout, they know who won. it’s the same as Jon Jones/ Matt Hamill. on paper is says hamill won, but who’s the one who had to eat soup through a hole in his face?
